Music at Bethany
Welcome to the choirs here at Bethany United Methodist Church!
There is a place for everyone here. There are various ways to participate, and we hope you will consider joining us for one, some, or all of them!
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir sings a variety of choral repertoire and periodically leads congregational singing. We enjoy rehearsing from 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings and participating in worship on many Sunday mornings. Childcare can be provided; all ages welcome. No previous singing experience is necessary to see what it’s like to sing in the choir!
FLASH! Choir
The FLASH! Choir meets at 9:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary to learn an anthem for the 10:00 a.m. service. This is a great way to participate in choral singing without evening rehearsals, and it is intended to provide opportunities for engagement with a variety of people. We meet, sing, and are done in a FLASH! Childcare is provided if you wish; all ages welcome.
A Capella Choir
A Capella Choir is a small ensemble that sings a capella (in the style of the church) music. This choir is designed for those with a little more singing experience, and rehearsals schedule is TBD by the singers in the group. Interested? Email Kristie for more information!
Handbell Choirs
Carillons
The Carillons, Bethany’s premier handbell ensemble, is open to all adults and advanced youth. No experience is necessary to join the choir, just an interest in handbells and the ability to read music. Anyone who has ever played piano or percussion would be an asset to the choir. The members of the Carillons continue to perfect their handbell skills and keep up with new techniques as well as working on the basics as new ringers join the group. Carillons play in church once a month, during the Christmas and Easter seasons, and also attend area handbell events.
In addition to enhancing the worship services on Sundays, the Carillons also present an annual Spring Pops Concert and perform lighter and more popular pieces of music.
